PART 2: SENSITIVITY OF ANTARCTIC ECOSYSTEM TO THE PRESENCE OF CONTAMINATION

The thesis recognized the problem of polar regions pollution. In the theoretical part highlighted the persistent
organic compounds present in the Antarctic in the various samples of biotic and inanimate nature (a detailed
description of contemporary analytical research conducted in the period from 2000 to 2013). Chemical substance
anthropogenic origin may appear in the polar areas due to long range atmospheric transport (LRAT). The study of
pollution levels present in various environment samples are the foundation for the monitoring of the environment,
so that it will be possible to take action to protect Antarctic ecosystems.
