Ion chromatography PRAKTYKA
– effective tool for analytical
studies

Monitoring the environment and delivering upright information about the state of it's specific elements is currently
one of the most important tasks set before analytical chemists. The chromatographic methods are of particular
importance in analyzing environmental samples, there is no doubt about it.
This article shows basic information about ion chromatography – a technique that is currently regarded
as the most important instrumental method of cations and anions indication in various type environmen-
tal samples, in particular: drinking water, surface water, underground water, sewage and precipitation.
In the coverage, most important information was arranged about different types of ion chromatography techniques
and the scope of their practical application.
Special attention was given to the development of the method across the years. Additionally, the differences of
the way the technique was used by different analytical chemists compared to other instrumental methods were
shown in a schematic way.
