– THE LABORATORY ANALYSIS OF THEIR COMPOSITION
Dynamic development of sensitive measuring methods allowed the use of hair and nails as an alternative mate-
rial for detection of drugs, psychoactive substances, performance-enhancing drugs and heavy metals. They are
characterized by the high availability, non-invasive collection, and the results provide information about long-term
exposure to xenobiotic. This work aims to provide the potential application of hair and nails as diagnostic materi-
als which are an alternative to the commonly used blood and urine.
